NC Envirothon
From even before I was in Highschool, I have participated in the NC Envirothon Competition. In this event, you study subjects such as aquatics, forestry, and any current issues in the environment which changes each year. Thanks to this, I would say that my knowledge about trees has become quite exceptional. At this years states competition, My team and I placed second overall with the first place team given the opportunity to represent North Carolina at the national competition. Hopefully next year I can take first prize after doing this for so many years!

Debate
For about a year, I was a part of a debate club. We would do different types of debate like Lincoln-Douglass, where you debate a topic given the National Debate and Speech Association for the year. You learn not only how to support the resolution, but also how to disprove the resolution. Its like arguing against yourself at times. Even thought I was not particularly fond of this activity, it helped me learn how deconstruct topics and support my claims which is a very necessary skill in life to have.
