About Me

I I was born on November 23rd, 2006 and I am 3rd of seven boys. People are often shocked to here about the sheer size of my family. My older brothers have already been through this program it this institution with my younger brother making his way through now.

Some of my favorite hobbies are working out at the gym, playing video games, and playing music. My primary instrument is piano and I play guitar on the side for whoever needs it. I also dabble in the Oboe (If you know what that is), But it is not really enjoyable to practice due to being a wind instrument.

I am a 5th generational Lyman with my ancestor, Morris B. Lyman, being the one to begin the small beach town of Lantana in the state of Florida, which is a short drive just south of West Palm Beach. His grandson who was my great-grandfather, Kenny Lyman, was a highly respected deep sea fisherman in the town of Boynton Beach which is just south of Lantana. That being said, I'm no fisherman and do not have the patience for it.

My primary reason that I am at SPCC is to obtain some credits that I can transfer to a higher institution. This will help me save time and help me get started on my life much sooner. Also, this will help me achieve certain skills that I need for life sooner than others and will put me much farther ahead.

At the moment, I am currently unsure of what degree I want to pursue. One thing that I know however, is that I will take up a minor in Music. Music has been such a big part in my life and I want to see for myself just how good I can get at it.

I am a very goal-oriented person and nothing drives me more than looming deadlines. I will set deadlines for myself for when I need to get things done like a piano sonata be finished by the end of the summer. If I do not set a goal, then my mind will see no real reason to work hard. By setting goals, It helps me to work hard on what I am doing and become the best version of myself.

“Our very survival depends on our ability to stay awake, to adjust to new ideas, to remain vigilant and to face the challenge of change.” – Martin Luther King Jr.

My Experience at SPCC

While My experience at SPCC may have only been primarily online with one on-campus visit which was very brief, It has taught me how to manage my time and complete things swiftly, but effectively. It has also exposed me to different fields of study I have not yet known before like psychology and Cyber Crime studies.

That being said, I have also had my share of failures here like missing assignments and earning some detestable grades for classes. In my eyes, these have done nothing but help me grow as a person. I know that I will encounter more challenges that may end up as more failures in the future. Thanks to my time here though, I will be able to navigate such situations to be more in my favor and help achieve a better outcome for myself and everyone I interact with.

The quote above by Martin Luther King Jr. perfectly encapsulates How I as a person view certain challenges that I encounter in life. I am always looking to how I can navigate it to the best outcome possible and my studies at SPCC have helped me understand what actions are the best to take. My skills at being a flexible individual will help me in the future to always be the best version of myself.
